Sarah's Story

Sarah cares full-time for her husband, Jonathan, who lost both his legs at 19. Living in Lincolnshire with their two children, her days are full, shaped by care, family life, and determination. Despite living with fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and PTSD, she continues to find ways to keep going.

“Some days are harder than others, but I remind myself that doing my best is enough.”

Through Lincolnshire Carers Service, Sarah connected with others, accessed advice, and found time for herself.

“You are not alone. Support makes a difference.”

Ashley's Story

Ashley has been caring for his wife for over 12 years. Over time, caring took its toll on his confidence and sense of self. With support from Lincolnshire Carers Service, he began to rebuild—accessing training and finding a flexible career that fits around his caring role.

A turning point came when he joined a support group: “I need to do this group just for myself… from two meetings, I’ve changed my entire career. I was reluctant at first, but they can be very beneficial.”

With funding and support, Ashley retrained and now works from home as an English teacher. A regular support network now gives him precious time for work and his own wellbeing.

Ashley’s story shows how the right support can transform lives.
